Spring AND Fall Rummage Sales at First Congregational!

Many thanks to all who donated, helped set up and shopped to make our April Rummage   Sale a huge success.

NEXT RUMMAGE SALE WILL BE THIS FALL!

Pascack Food Center

Throughout the year we collect items for the Pascack Food Center located at 65  Pascack Road in Park Ridge.  They are asking for some “special help” on items for which they frequently run low.  They are in need of juice boxes and coffee. Please place all donations on the table in the Narthex or call the church office at 201-391-5800 to arrange a time to drop off when the church is open.

Shawl Ministry

Recently the Prayer Shawl Ministry presented Sheila McGraw, Director of the Pascack Food Center, with a check for $2,523!!

Recently, our Shawl Ministry presented a check to the director of the Pascack Food Center at their meeting, funded by the proceeds from the successful ruffled scarf fundraiser.  Many thanks to all who participated. The group was thrilled that the sale of their knitted ruffle scarves was such a success and that they were able to make this donation to the center that provides such a wonderful service in our community. The food center serves over 100 clients.

More good news…the Shawl Ministry will continue to make scarves (by order only) and the 2013 proceeds will be donated to the Pascack Food Center and our Church.  New color charts and order forms are on the table by the parlor door entrance, or call the church to order.

The “Shawl Ministry” combines prayer and blessings with the care and love of knitting and crocheting. They create beautiful shawls, lap robes and baby blankets and then donate them to those in need of comfort due to illness, suffering from a loss or in long term care as well as for happy occasions such as when a baby arrives.

The group brings a “brown bag” lunch and meets at noon on the third Tuesday of the month in our parlor. Coffee and cookies are provided.  All are welcome and you need not come every month. For more information call the church at 201-391-5800

Family Promise Volunteer Opportunities:

Our church is responsible for staffing the Family Promise Day Center on the 4th Saturday of each month.  There are three shifts and two people are needed to cover each shift.  Helping out at the Day Center is a fun and easy way to volunteer your time – volunteers are needed to do arts and crafts, reading and recreational activities and generally help the families.

Please check your calendars and consider volunteering on a fourth Saturday.  You’ll find it an enjoyable and rewarding experience.  Sign-up sheets are located just outside the Sanctuary or you can contact the church office at 201-391-5800.    Thank you for your support!
